Embarking on a healing journey, you're not warned about the hardship of existing in a largely unhealed world. Personal growth becomes a double-edged sword when you're suddenly seeing the world with the blindfold off. Nature, though occasionally brutal, pales in comparison to the cruelty of the systems humanity has built to sustain society. When the usual escapes don't cut it anymore, life leaves you to face a system that's broken, outdated, and desperately in need of hope and repair. The tragedy is, you're always left to wonder how different life might have been if it had been built fairer, with more integrity and collective acceptance.

For me, I am hyper aware of society living in our current failed system while collectively stepping into the dawn of a new one. I've never noticed it before, but I feel longing for the familiar, nostalgic for the life I've always known. I realize there is unprocessed grief wrapped up with excitemen…
