La Sala Talks
This past month, I’ve been feeling the kind of burnout that doesn’t go away with a weekend off. You need to do less. But you can’t stop, can you?
When you’re in a season where rest isn’t an option - when there are bills, deadlines, responsibilities, and dreams still unfolding, what do you do?
You start removing.
Not everything. Not drastically. Just the little things that no longer serve, to make space for the ones that actually do. Lately, my theme has been making space for clarity, for impact, for life - by subtracting.
For me, that has looked like one simple rule: No creating content on my morning walks. Just music, fresh air, and being present. Content creation is not allowed during those times, but ironically, those walks are where the best ideas come. I just save them in my notes or open a tab in my head for later.
It’s also looked like going analog. I got myself a physical planner - the Anecdote Planner - and something about pen-to-paper slows my mind down enough to focus. This planner forces you to add your annual goals, then break those out into monthly goals, which then helps you align those with your weekly goals. I highly recommend this for anyone who needs a little re-focus every day.
As an early adopter of technology and someone’s who’s on top of trends, this was a good reminder - sometimes it’s necessary to go analog.
So this is your invitation to remove something, maybe just one thing, this week. Make space. You never know what (or who) might come through. ✌️

Highlights From Conversations I’m Having
The thing you’ve been putting off the most is probably the thing you need to prioritize
The news is meant to overwhelm you. Stay plugged in but avoid folks who sensationalize news for rage bait or views. Your nervous system deserves a break.
I’d rather be angry than afraid, but I’d rather be hopeful than angry
The “Güerita” trend on TikTok made me pause. It’s not just a funny trend - it’s a reminder of how deeply we’ve internalized the idea that being lighter, looking whiter, still = safety or praise. Instead of chasing proximity to whiteness, what would it look like to affirm our beauty, power, and culture as is, without dilution?
